In our fashion landscape, many brands churn out clothes that are very much on-trend, and there’s no harm in that. However, we’re pretty sure you crave for classic styles from time to time. Look no further, here’s a collection to save you from your woes! Emi Englis’ presented classy evening wear at the Panasonic Manila Fashion Festival Season 10. Though the silhouettes were classic and simple, the designer’s use of mixed metals made the collection riveting to behold.
Models sashayed down the runway looking like glittering goddesses, what with the Roman feel of the silhouettes, like capes, slit sleeves, and draped sleeves. The designer seemed to suggest that you too can pull off looking like a glamazon, whatever the occasion. On the more laidback side of the scale, you have a pants-and-top combo. In the middle, cocktail dresses in gold or glittering black. In the farther side of the spectrum (for more formal occasions), you’ve got fully sequined numbers in festive handkerchief hems and mullet hems. Imagine a Roman goddess hitting the red carpet or going out on a Friday night!
Most of the outfits featured copper tones, gold, and black, but we loved one specific ensemble that was perfectly subtle with the sheen. It featured a dark bronzey off-shouldered top with sheer lining. We loved the ruching finish and the extra long sleeves—because there’s nothing wrong with a little exaggeration!
Essentially, Emi Englis designed a collection that balanced classic sensibilities with our modern flair for the “extra.” But if you really think about it, didn’t those goddesses and Hollywood celebrities have a flair for the dramatic, too? Maybe golden glamour has always had a place in the heart of fashion.
