Chanel Just Had a Pregnant Model Walk for Its Cruise 2026/27 Show

For the house’s Cruise 2026/27 line, Matthieu Blazy transports Chanel to Biarritz in southern France—a seaside city where a young Coco Chanel opened her first couture boutique in 1915. The collection sets the pace for the Blazy-era resort dressing: joyful and spirited, yet enduring and forward-looking.

As with his previous presentations, including his tenure at Bottega Veneta, Matthieu brings his distinct point of view to life through the mix of models he casts for his shows. In collaboration with casting director Anna Bitton, his approach centers on a diverse, multigenerational “cast of characters,” grounded in real-world relatability and shaped by a vision of “democratic luxury.”

That ethos carried through Chanel’s Cruise 2026/27 show last April 28, when model-musician Kaya Wilkins—also known as Okay Kaya—walked the runway six months into her pregnancy, marking the first time a pregnant woman has ever walked for the house.

Donning Look 10, Kaya emerged on the runway dressed in a black high-waisted bikini with her baby bump fully visible. The piece was layered beneath a tweed skirt suit with a thigh-high slit, and accessorized with red chili pepper-shaped earrings.

On hand, she carried a Chanel Classic Flap adorned with miniature Mary Jane shoes—the charms that had everyone talking about after the show.

Kaya is a Norwegian-American musician, model, and actress. Born in New Jersey and raised near Oslo, Norway, she is known for her raw, alternative indie sound, including the Spellemann Award-winning album "Watch This Liquid Pour Itself." She made her acting debut in the critically acclaimed 2017 film "Thelma," and was soon cast in movies like "Exit Plan" (2019) and "Death Stranding: (2019).

As a model, Kaya is a regular at global fashion weeks, having walked for big-name brands like Bottega Veneta, Calvin Klein, and now, Chanel.
