Remember Catriona Gray’s showstopping lava gown at the 2018 Miss Universe pageant? Literally everyone couldn’t get over the fiery red piece inspired by Philippines’ own Mayon Volcano. Well, the designer behind that exact look just released face masks inspired by that iconic dress. Mak Tumang, the Kapampangan designer responsible for Catriona’s unforgettable evening gown, created a set of four “lava” face masks, each having its own unique design.
The set includes three printed masks featuring the lava motif, plus one in solid black that you could wear with any outfit. All face masks are crafted with neo-crepe and lined with cotton, making them super comfortable and breathable. They’re also water-repellent, so they'll dry quickly after washing. Plus, each mask is three-ply to ensure that no particles seep through.
This entire set is priced at P1500, meaning each designer face mask is priced at P375. But there's moreâ —buying a set also entitles you to a “photo opportunity with the iconic Lava Gown” at Mak’s atelier in Pampanga (which you can do in the near future once traveling across the country is safe again!).
We imagine those blazing red face masks as an accent to a simple outfit, like your fave jeans and a crisp white button-down; or as part of a monochromatic red streetwear look featuring an oversized shirt, tartan skirt, and white sneakers (oh, and a cool bucket hat!). Whatever your aesthetic, we bet you’ll feel like a queen every time you wear the maskâ —a very fashown kween, that is!
