This year’s State of the Nation Address saw many attendees embrace a more restrained approach to dressing. With simplicity as the guiding dress code, the red carpet shifted away from extravagant statements in favor of pieces that let craftsmanship do the talking. Carlos Yulo was among those who leaned into the theme, arriving in a custom look by Filipino designer Vin Orias.

For the occasion, the two-time Olympic champion sported a monochromatic tracksuit rendered in a soft champagne hue.

The look featured a zip-up bomber jacket with a cocoon silhouette paired with relaxed, wide-leg trousers. Both pieces were crafted from piña fabric layered over a Japanese gold-sparkle sports jersey, giving the set a lightweight texture and a subtle sheen.

Subtly punctuating the ensemble, a gold Jewelmer pearl brooch adorned Carlos' right chest.

The tracksuit itself also felt like a fitting choice. Designer Vin Orias fully embraced the athletic silhouette, elevating it through sharp tailoring and the use of local textiles.

On Instagram, the designer reflected on the deeper meaning behind the ensemble, writing, “[The tracksuit is] a quiet reminder that good design isn’t only made for a moment—it is made to be worn, remembered, and worn again.”
