For the first time since 2002, Calvin Klein names a creative head at the helm of its underwear, home goods, and runway lines, and its none other than Raf Simons. It was announced that Dior's former Creative Director had signed on with the brand via social media and the fashion world hasn't stopped buzzing since.
And why shouldn't we be talking about this? “Not since Mr. Klein himself was at the company has it been led by one creative visionary, and I am confident that this decision will drive the Calvin Klein brand and have a significant impact on its future. Raf’s exceptional contributions have shaped and modernised fashion as we see it today and, under his direction, Calvin Klein will further solidify its position as a leading global lifestyle brand,” says Steve Shiffman, CEO of Calvin Klein, on their social media announcement.
We can't wait to see how Mr. Simons injects his signature flair for architectural fashion into the brand. But the real test comes with next year's Fall/Winter collection, his first design forray into the Calvin Klein brand. We'll be watching!
