Through his Holiday 2018 collection titled Off-Center,Ivarluski Aseron showcases his take on polished streetwear with an unsettling edge. The lines on his coats are sketched sideways and his skirts are sliced in the middle featuring different fabrics. Your eyes would definitely need a second to realign, but then, it's this momentary glitch that is the collection's greatest charm. According to Ivar, he was inspired by this unusual habit he's had since his teenage years.
"Even when I was much younger, I was drawn to something that's a bit off and has unique details," the designer tells Preview. "I would arrange things in my bedroom [so they looked] a bit off, like the placement of decor or even my bed, and until now I still have that habit." It was this attraction to disarray that guided his collection, a deliberate deviation from usual silhouettes, materials, and placements to challenge the eyes. In the end, Off-Center succeeded, becoming a parade of streetwear that's deviant yet elegant, blurring the lines of the genre by literally drawing new ones.
