The yellow brick road finds its way to our corner of the globe with the Singaporean premiere of Wicked: For Good. The second act of the Ozian tale gathered stars from across Asia at Universal Studios for a first look, with cast members Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo also in attendance. Representing the Philippines at the regional affair was Andrea Brillantes, who was totally swankified in Filipino-made looks.

Welcoming Party
Prior to the big premiere, guests mingled at a welcoming dinner hosted by Universal Pictures. In a quick chat with Preview, Andrea's stylist Eldzs Mejia talks about her first outfit, which aimed to embody both of the musical's main characters. "She wore a custom AJ Javier piece," he shares, describing the actress' chartreuse mini dress accented by a pastel pink flower by the bosom.
The flouncy frock was perfectly tailored for Singapore's tropical weather, but it still had a touch of whimsy courtesy of its color palette and silhouette. Teamed with it was a sky-high pair of heels, as well as a Chanel vanity case in white. "[The details] made it feel wicked in the best way, but it was still soft and not too literal," Eldzs adds. At the dinner, Andrea was joined by fellow Filipinos Darren Espanto, Markki Stroem, and host Ai Dela Cruz.
Yellow Carpet
When the time came for the grand premiere, Andrea switched from green to pink, embodying Glinda's flamboyance and femininity in a custom Vania Romoff. "Once we had Vania on board, I immediately reached out to collaborate on the design,' Eldzs narrates. Initially, they sought to create a version of the Filipiniana as the event had eyes from all over the globe. "But we also wanted the look to feel very Andrea," the stylist explains.
What ended up being the Gen Z star's yellow carpet look was a diaphanous muted pink ensemble. Donning an off-shoulder corset and a pleated skirt, Andrea appeared dream-like with every step and twirl. It was Eldzs' idea to incorporate micro polka dots into the look, which referenced Glinda's bubble imagery, but was also a signature of the designer's. "Vania was incredibly gracious in bringing all of Andrea’s ideas to life," he says, "and the final result was absolutely stunning." We'd have to agree!

The Singaporean premiere is the cast's only stop in Southeast Asia. While the event concluded as a success, it was also tainted by an incident early on involving a gatecrasher who accosted Ariana Grande as she walked into the venue. The pop star and Oscar-nominated actress, thankfully, was unharmed.
Wicked: For Good premieres in Philippine theaters on November 20.
