Alex Eala once again brings pride to the Philippines with her recent victory at the 2025 Southeast Asian Games. The tennis star bested her counterparts in the women's tennis singles, making her only the third Filipina to win the coveted gold medal in the category.

In the final round, Alex faced off against Thailand's Mananchaya Sawagkaew, who presently holds the 137th spot in the tennis world rankings. Alex, who claims the 53rd spot, beat her at 6-1 odds. The last time the Philippines had a podium finish at the competition was in 2017 when Clarice Patrimonio bagged silver. Alex's finish proves to be a significant feat, as it's the first gold won by the Philippines since 1999 when Maricris Fernandez competed.
After the match, Alex was visibly (and deservingly!) elated with her performance. The athlete waved the Philippine flag as she wore her medal, sending many Pinoys into a frenzy of pride. A big congrats from us, Alex!

2025 proves to be quite the banner year for Alex, whose name has become quite prominent in the sporting world. Her breakout performances have caught the attention of Nike, which made her one of its brand ambassadors. At Alex's Wimbledon debut last June, she wore a hair tie fashioned after the sampaguita, which served as a nod to her Filipina roots.
For her SEA Games appearance, she's once again decked out in swooshes. During her gold-clinching match, she sported a pair of Vapor Pro 3 on her feet, which quite literally provided spring to her steps. These kicks are designed for optimum performance on their court with their trademark Air Zoom cushioning. You can shop the champ-approved pair for about P7000 online.
