As the Ber months kick in, no other fabric can spell out the holiday better than velvet. The opulent fabric is best suited for evening wear, rather than your usual eight-to-five working time, and certainly not amid the city heat. But lucky for you, we’ve got tricks on how you can wear this lavish texture without feeling extra stuffy.
EASY: Accessories
Try out the trend by incorporating it subtlely into your outfit. Add a little bow necktie to a crisp white button down or wear it as a choker with your slip dress. You can even wear it on your feet via a pair of ankle boots!

MODERATE: Separates
Be a little braver and wear it as an actual piece of clothing. Don’t be afraid to mix it with other textures. Match a velvet skirt or culottes with lightweight tops. You can keep your velvet top casual by toning it down with a pair of jeans.

HARD: Layered
Here’s where it gets a bit tricky. Velvet has long been associated with winter for its texture and weight. And in the kind of weather we have here in the country, it seems inappropriate to wear. But mind you, the Manila heat shouldn’t stop you from layering velvet. The trick is wearing a lighter fabric inside and keeping your velvet piece hemmed short.
