Two things should come to mind when you come across luxury watch brand Omega: a spirit of adventure, explorers like Buzz Aldrin and Jacques Cousteau famously wore the Speedmaster and Seamaster in their missions, and precise timekeeping. Their commitment to the latter is evidenced in their latest release, the Seamaster Aqua Terra. First created in 2002 to be reliable on both sea and land, the newest version has passed all eight tests of the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) to receive the certification of Master Chronometer.
Part of passing these stringent checks on accuracy and function is a test to on how well the watch works even when exposed to magnetic forces. In this case, the anti-magnetic properties of the timepiece were able to maintain its performance even after exposure to 15,000 gauss magnetic force. Fun fact: A regular quartz or mechanical watch could actually stop ticking when exposed to a magnet like the clasp in your purse, and when it starts back up, you can be sure that the time reflected will no longer be accurate. Next thing you know, you’re late for all you succeeding to-dos.
Now in today’s world, wouldn’t you say the point of being able to tell time precisely is to be able to precisely carve out time for new experiences? If you did have the time, what would you do? We asked a few of the guests at Omega’s Seamaster Aqua Terra launch in Amanpulo, “When was the last time you did something for the first time?” A simple question that’s actually difficult to answer. Read on to find out what came to mind for Judy Ann Santos, Lovi Poe, Laureen Uy, Jess Wilson, Mond Gutierrez, and more.

“It was about a day ago. [Laughs.] We got here sa Amanpulo, Omega invited us. Honestly, this is the first time I’ve attended an event this big on a beach. It is the first time na na-invite kami, so I’m so nervous. Kase, ito yata ang beach na hindi ako maka relax kase kailangan nakaayos. But it’s an experience na sobrang sarap at sobrang saya, because we get to meet so many people and make so many new friends.”

Lovi Poe
“I met Eddie Redmayne for the first time, and I hope it won’t be the last. I flew to Venice for the Omega event and I met him there.”
Mond Gutierrez
“So many things recently I did for the first time, like taking my shirt off in public, jumping into a waterfall, just being on the beach and enjoying. Actually for a very long time, I didn’t like going to the beach. So this is something new for me that I only started appreciating last year.”
Leila Alcasid
“The last time I did something for the first time was release a song. So that was two weeks ago!”
Laureen Uy
“I think it was when I went to Bali, because I usually don’t travel alone. I feel like, who’s gonna take my photos, am I gonna get lost? There are so many questions in my head. But honestly, once you do it, it feels so liberating. And I felt that for those three days, it was just me time, and I loved it so much."
Kelsey Merritt
“Last night they served kinilaw at the dinner and it was ah-mazing!”
Juliana Gomez
"The last time I did something for the first time, I think I was in the ninth grade and I went trapezing with my friends. And I will remember that forever because I’m super scared of heights."
Pam Quiñones
“That was last year when I got married, and it’s been amazing. I love it!”
