Anne Curtis, Maggie Wilson, and more will convince you to try free-diving!

As an archipelago, our country has been gifted with many breathtaking beaches and the vast ocean surrounding our islands. Along with that is the undeniably amazing marine life that would be a shame not to explore. So it is no wonder that we, Filipinos, have always had some sort of attachment to the sea. So no matter where we are, it just seems like a good idea to have an underwater adventure.

Interestingly, some of our local celebs have been into free-diving recently. Free-diving is basically just diving without the need for a lot of equipment and relies solely on holding your breath until you resurface. Weak swimmers beware! But if you’re an experienced diver and would like to spruce up your Instagram feed with otherworldly photos, then this is something you should consider. Not convinced? Just take a look at these celeb snaps underwater that simply look so effortless!

But before you add free-diving to your bucket list, be sure to take notes from these stars when it comes to posing in the depths. Being aware of your body is one of the most important factors to getting that cinematic shot amongst the corals and fishes. Luckily, these girls are a master in looking picture perfect while swimming and holding their breath.

How to Pose Underwater, According to Celebrities

1. Maggie Wilson

This seasoned diver is showing us how great it would be to interact with the creatures underwater just like what she did when she free-dived in the Bahamas. Pro tip from Maggie: Be sure to pick a striking swimsuit hue so your silhouette pops underwater!

2. Michelle Dee

This fellow beauty queen also recently became a fan of free-diving when she set out to explore the coral reefs in the country. She wore this high cut one-piece swimsuit that really elongated her legs. The shot was also taken from behind her that worked to make her body appear slimmer and taller.

3. Solenn Heussaff

Solenn recently went on a trip to Palawan with her family and free-diving in Culion just had to be on her itinerary. If you’d like a dreamy shot for your feed, why not capture yourself coming up for air like Sos? The mirrored effect when on the surface really creates a cinematic photo. Just be sure to extend your arms and point those toes!

4.  Anne Curtis

Just like Solenn, Anne Curtis opted for a two-piece bikini rather than a maillot. The trick is to pick a suit that will provide the support you need and isn’t flimsy to avoid flashing unnecessary skin. Here, Anne proves you can use unique rocks or wreckages to your advantage. She has her hubby Erwan Huessaff to thank for this stunning pic that makes her look like she’s in a garden of pink and fluttery fish. Again, extend your body as much as you can to make your silhouette look long.

5. Sarah Lahbati

This beach babe is fond of free-diving too and suggests you can take the shot under high sunrays and in shallow waters. In this photo during her Siargao trip, Sarah made use of the island’s crystal clear waters for this shot that beautifully flaunts her monogrammed Louis Vuitton one-piece. Take cues from Sarah and take the shot from behind to show off your toned booty!
