Visiting Japan soon? Your Visa application process just got easier. As of May 15, 2026, Philippine residents with ordinary PH passports are now part for the country’s e-Visa system program.
To be eligible, travelers just have to follow one important requirement: their vacation must be part of a packaged tour organized by an authorized travel agency.

Apart from reducing the hassle that comes with an in-person application, certain financial mandatories have also been waived. This means that Filipinos won’t have to submit a bank certificate, bank statements, or present their Income Tax Returns.
That said, as stated in the memo posted on their Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, applicants may still be asked by the Japanese embassy for a physical interview if needed for further questions.
The e-Visa is for short-term tourism only and is limited to a maximum stay of 15 days. Filipinos flying to Japan for other purposes like business, family, study, or work still have to apply through a VFS Global Japan Visa Application Center and submit the necessary requirements.

Japan is one of the most visited countries in the world, raking in around 42.7 million foreign visitors in 2025 alone. Among this number, 885,100 came from the Philippines, which marked a significant 8.1% increase from 2024. Proof that Filipinos continue to enjoy everything the Land of the Rising Sun has to offer from its delicious food, picturesque cherry blossoms, and rich anime culture.
With new provisions in place to make Japan travel smoother and more convenient, the number is only expected to grow in the coming year.
