Traveling can quickly turn from exciting to challenging when you realize you’ll have to leave your pet (and best friend) behind for a while. If this sounds familiar, today is a reason to rejoice—Philippine Airlines (PAL) now allows small dogs on select flights to destinations within the country.
For now, only certain domestic trips—specifically to Boracay, Bohol, and Siargao—are eligible for the FurPAL initiative. Those with feline companions, however, will have to wait a little longer, as permission for cats to fly in-cabin is still in the works.
PAL’s Guidelines for Bringing Your Pet on Board
To ensure safety, the airline’s FurPAL service has specific requirements. Dogs must weigh no more than 10 kilograms and be at least eight weeks old and fully weaned.
They must be housed in leak-proof carriers with soft sides and pee pads. Each carrier should also have two ventilation panels and not exceed the dimensions of 17 × 11 × 9.5 inches.

Don’t forget to bring your dog’s veterinary health certificate and vaccination records. You’ll also need to secure a shipping permit from the Bureau of Animal Industry, as this is another requirement.
During the flight, the carrier will be securely placed under the seat in front of you. Sedating your pet is not allowed.
How Do I Book a FurPAL Flight?
When booking a ticket to Boracay, Bohol, or Siargao on the PAL website, go to the Travel Boost page and select “FurPAL” to view eligible flights. Before you know it, you’ll be flying with your fur baby in no time!
