For a K-drama centered on modern royalty, Perfect Crown spends plenty of time looking back at South Korea’s past. Between palace-like interiors, quiet courtyards, and mountain-facing hanok stays, the series folds traditional architecture into its contemporary storyline—including the residence of Prince Ian (Byeon Woo Seok) himself.

That filming location is none other than Awon Museum & Hotel, a hanok stay tucked at the foot of Jongnamsan Mountain in Wanju. The property has also appeared in dramas like Mr. Plankton and Treasure Island, making it a familiar sight for K-drama fans drawn to Korea’s more traditional settings.

According to Visit Korea, Awon Museum & Hotel is built around hanok structures relocated from Jinju and Hampyeong, some of which date back over 200 years. The property blends historic Korean homes with modern additions, contemporary art spaces, and hotel-style amenities, creating a stay centered on traditional architecture and quiet rest.

How Much It Costs:

Awon Museum and Hanok Stay Featured in Perfect Crown

The property has 10 rooms in total, all designed in the Korean hanok style. Amenities include air conditioning, toiletries, hair dryers, breakfast service, and access to facilities such as the Awon Gallery and the seminar room. Guests can also join a complimentary tea ceremony program during their stay. Public visitors may enter certain shared areas from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. for an admission fee of 10,000 Korean won, or approximately P415.

Unlike some traditional hanok stays that lean heavily into minimalism, Awon Museum & Hotel incorporates more modern comforts into its historic spaces. Several rooms include outdoor baths, while the newer Seodang villa features a Hinoki tub overlooking the surrounding landscape.

Here’s a closer look at the accommodations seen around the property.

Sarangchae (Yeonhadang)

Rates: 470,000 to 500,000 KRW (approximately P19,455 to P20,600)

Originally relocated from a 250-year-old home in Jinju, Yeonhadang served as a traditional sarangchae, or guest quarters for scholars. Today, the private house keeps much of that atmosphere intact through its open wooden veranda, spacious layout, and mountain-facing views. The room accommodates up to four guests and includes one bedroom and one bathroom.

Seolhwadang functions as the property’s main house and is one of the best spots for taking in Awon’s gardens and pond views. Bamboo groves and the ridges of Mt. Jongnam frame the space outside the veranda, while the interiors keep the restrained look of a traditional hanok. The room accommodates up to three guests.

Located behind the main hanok buildings, this second Cheonmok annex continues the property’s modern design approach through minimalist concrete interiors and expansive windows facing Mt. Jongnam. Though more contemporary in appearance, the space still connects visually to the surrounding tiled roofs and wooden structures.

Today, it functions as a private stay complete with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, an outdoor bath, and a Hinoki tub overlooking the mountains. The villa can accommodate up to five guests.
