It's going to be a lot harder denying how dependent we are on social media. Facebook and Instagram have recently rolled out a new feature that lets its users see how much time they've been using each app via mobile.

The new tool, according to Instagram, is designed "based on collaboration and inspiration from leading mental health experts and organizations, academics, [their] own extensive research and feedback from [their] community." It aims to "help people manage their time on Instagram and Facebook." The Your Time on Facebook and Instagram tool also lets y0u set a daily reminder to give yourself an alert when you’ve reached the amount of time you want to spend on that app for that day. Additionally, you can limit the notifications you receive, an added feature that aims to help its users gain better focus throughout the day.
"We want the time people spend on Instagram and Facebook to be intentional, positive, and inspiring," they say. To access this feature, simply go to the settings page on either app. On Instagram, tap “Your Activity,” and on Facebook, tap “Your Time on Facebook.” You’ll see a dashboard showing your average time for that app on that device...that is, if you really wanna know.
