Sure, binge-watching rom-coms may be entertaining enough, but sometimes all you really need is an hour dose of pure unadulterated laughter to get you in a good mood. That said, no happy pill does it better than watching stand-up comedians at their prime while delivering all-too relatable punch lines. Luckily, Netflix is home to a hoard of stand-up comedy specials featuring the best comedians in the industry. All that's left to do is to find the right show to tickle your funny bone. 

To help you out, we list down some of the best specials on the streaming site, below!

1. Jo Koy: In His Elements

Filipino-American comedian Jo Koy rose to fame, particularly among Filipinos, for his spot-on and relatable humor especially when it comes to his heritage. This time though he takes his well-received lines to the heart of it all, a.k.a. Manila. For Jo's third Netflix special, he not only highlights the Filipino culture, but shares the spotlight with other Fil-Am performers as well, including breakdancer Ronnie, Grammy-winning producer !llmind, singer/songwriter Iñigo Pascual, and comedians Andrew Lopez, Joey Guila, and Andrew Orolfo.

2. Ali Wong: Baby Cobra

If you loved Ali Wong in the Netflix comedy hit Always Be My Maybe, then you'll definitely get a kick out of the entertainer as the blunt and brutally honest stand-up comedian that she is. A heavily pregnant Ali takes the stage to delve deep on her sexual adventures, alongside hilarious stories about the rocky road to preganancy. P.S. her facial expressions are everything!

3. Ken Jeong: You Complete Me, Ho

Yes, the title refers to Ken Jeong's wife Tran Ho, and if you find it funny then that's just the tip of the iceberg. For this comedy special, the actor returns to his stand-up roots as he looks back on his journey from starting out as a doctor to transitioning into a Hollywood superstar. He also speaks about his wife's courageous battle with breast cancer, which eventually led to him to landing his iconic role in the 2009 comedy film The Hangover.

4. Tiffany Haddish: Black Mitzvah

Tiffany Haddish is an absolute hoot in her movies, but then again all she needs are a mic and a stage to work with and she'll have you bending over in laughter all by herself. In her most recent Netflix special, the actress takes her bold jokes up a notch while she touches upong her jewish roots, and the lessons she learned while raising herself. She even talks about that one time she got a jumpsuit from Beyonce of all people.

5. Wanda Sykes: Not Normal

Actress and comedy veteran Wanda Sykes takes her sharp wits to discuss all things politics on her 2019 special Not Normal. The one hour show sees Wanda dropping critical truth bombs on the the United States' current political culture and climate while managing to make her audience roll in laughter all the while.

6. Tig Notaro: Happy to Be Here

Last but not least is stand-up comic act Tig Notaro. If you're a sucker for dead pan jokes then her brand of humor's definitely for you. Netflix's official release reads "Tig tackles the comedic sides of marriage, parenting and being invited to an Ellen DeGeneres party, then closes the set with a tease that will leave you on the edge of your seat."
