Either to escape or to unleash your imagination for a bit, watching heroic characters beat monstrous antagonists is undeniably satisfying. So if you’re looking for a mind-bending plot to binge, look no further because we've listed down all of our favorite sci-fi series on Netflix.

1. Stranger Things

Stranger Things debuted its first season in 2016. The popular series was crowned six Emmy awards and three Grammys, so it is no doubt that this show is something you definitely wouldn't want to miss. Set in Indiana in the ‘80s, a bunch of kids fight monsters in order to close a foreign dimension which a secret government lab accidentally opened. With the help of their friend, Eleven, who has the power of telekinesis, the group embarks on a journey to save their small town. In case you want to binge the series, we urge you to wait for its fourth and last season since it's finally coming to Netflix in 2022!

2. The Umbrella Academy

Based on a comic written by Gerard Way, this series revolves around the lives of siblings who were all adopted by a scientist dad. Since they were young, he conducted an experiment on them that gave them super capabilities. Upon the mysterious death of their father, they unravel the truth behind their dysfunctional family during an impending apocalypse.

3. The Rain

In this apocalyptic Danish series that's centered on a group of teenagers, they're on a survival mission to find the reason behind the toxic rain that turns people into zombies. With its final installment last 2020, this binge-worthy series consists of plot twists that will have you on the edge of your seat.

4. The Society

After a field trip, a group of high school students returns to their small town only to discover that everyone else has mysteriously disappeared. Dark is a German TV show that explores four families to decipher a ominous time travel effect that greatly affects the human nature within several generations. The consequences of time causes their family members to suddenly disappear while exposing entangled ties they never saw coming.

6. Into the Night

Everyone in the world has dropped dead due to exposure to sunlight when a NATO soldier quickly hijacks the only airplane that was scheduled to fly out of Brussels at night. In attempt to survive this supernatural phenomenon, all the passengers and crew members transfer from one country to the next in order to loot enough resources for everyone just in time before the sun reaches them.

7. The 100

This apocalyptic series follows a group of survivors who successfully survived living in space stations called the Ark—nine decades after a nuclear bomb wiped out the rest of the population on Earth. When their life systems in space begin to fall scarce, the adults force one hundred juvenile detainees to return to Earth to collect resources despite not knowing if it's even safe to go back.

8. Love Death + Robots

This Netflix anthology animated series that's all about—yup, you guessed it—love, death, and robots rose to fame back in 2019. Its stunning art style also changes every time, leaving you an exhilarating experience to look forward to each episode. With its plot twists and existential lessons, this two-part series is truly a masterpiece.

9. Maniac

10. Alice in Borderland

Based on the manga of the same name by Haro Aso, a gamer finds himself in a abandoned city of Tokyo. Along with his friends, they are forced to play a mysterious game in order to get a "pass" to live. If they fail to complete the challenge given to them, you are bound to be executed by red lasers coming from the sky. In a race to keep their visas intact, the group of friends aim to win every game while figuring out what happened to their hometown.
