Aside from being a pageant titleholder, a tenured actress, and a doting mom of two, Ruffa Gutierrez wants to add "college graduate" to her list of credentials. In an interview on Magandang Buhay, the 47-year-old shared the reason why she's particularly persistent about attaining a bachelor's degree.

"It's very fulfilling [to study again]," she tells host Melai Cantiveros. Ruffa has been taking up Mass Communications at the Philippines Women's University for about a year now, although prior to this she "never thought" she'd be able to study again.
The celeb mom narrates, "nag-start ako [sa] show business, 13 years old. So syempre parang kumikita na ako. By 17, may condo na ako." Ruffa's career started out in the late '80s as a movie star and a host of GMA's variety show That's Entertainment. Since then, she "really didn't have to study anymore," given how busy her lifestyle became.

It was only until she met a special "someone" who encouraged her to pursue her studies again that the idea crossed her mind. "Para siyang mentor, kasi sabi nya, 'alam mo matalino ka, [bakit] ayaw mo magaral ulit? Tapusin mo yung college mo,'" she candidly shares. Ruffa took this advice and is now set to graduate in July.

Host Jolina Magdangal pointed out how it seems like she's attending classes alongside her daughters Lorin and Venice. Ruffa says the two of them remain her biggest inspirations to keep working hard towards her goals."For them to just express na they appreciate you, napakalaking bagay non," she remarks.

Kudos to you, Ruffa! We're rooting for you!
