Hello, savings!

Starting February 21, new and current Netflix subscribers can have access to the streaming app's whole library of shows and movies at a lower cost.

Its Basic Plan will now have a monthly charge of P249 (from P369), while its Standard Plan will have a monthly charge of P399 (from P459). Users who are currently subscribed to the streaming platform will benefit from this price cut, too, as Netflix will automatically roll out its updated pricing in the user's next billing cycle.

A quick refresher: The only difference between Basic Plan and Standard Plan is its video quality and resolution, with the former at 720p and the latter at 1080p. Everything else, like which device you can use, is the same.

Meanwhile, Netflix’s Mobile Plan and Premium Plan will retain the same monthly subscription cost at P150 and P549, respectively.

New Monthly Plans for Netflix Subscription

The move is a much-needed boost for sales as Netflix scrambles to compete with other streaming services like Amazon Prime VideoDisney+, and HBO GO, which have monthly subscription prices in the P149 to P369 range.

Netflix was reported to have lost almost a million subscribers between April and July 2022—its first major loss in over a decade—and it doesn’t help that the steaming giant has been putting subscribers off for its recent anti-password sharing measures in the US.

It won't be long until the same is implemented in the Philippines, so enjoy leeching at lower prices while you still can!
