When her husband Dingdong Dantes got the call from Tanghalang Ateneo about a new play they were mounting, Marian Rivera was ever the supportive wife saying it would be a great opportunity for him “Yan ang masaklap,” she recounts Dingdong saying with a smile, before telling her that she was the one they wanted, not him.

Oedipus Rex is going to be the first theater play Marian will be participating in, and apart from it being a new genre for the seasoned film and television actress to explore, it’s also going to be mounted entirely online. In an exclusive session with the editors of Summit Media, she talks about her role as high-powered woman in this modern-day adaptation of Sophocles’ first play from the Oedipus trilogy that is set in the midst of a national pandemic, with Oedipus as the nation’s strongman President.
