PSA for Filipino artists and craftsmen: here's your opportunity to bring your work onto the global stage!
The LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize has officially opened submissions for its milestone 10th edition, inviting craftspeople from around the world—including the Philippines—to apply until October 15, 2026.
Open to anyone over 18 working in a craft-based discipline, the internationally recognized award celebrates innovation while honoring the traditions and techniques that continue to shape contemporary craft.
About the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize 2027
Since its launch in 2016, the Craft Prize has become one of the industry's highest honors, spotlighting artists working across ceramics, textiles, jewelry, lacquer, bookbinding, paper, glass, metalwork, and other craft mediums. Inspired by LOEWE's beginnings as an artisanal leather workshop, the award has helped elevate craft from a niche practice into a globally celebrated art form while preserving techniques that might otherwise disappear.
All shortlisted works will be exhibited in Europe in spring 2027. From there, an international jury will select one overall winner, who will receive €50,000 (approximately P3.5 million), along with two special mentions of €5,000 (approximately P352,000) each.

This year's jury brings together some of the most respected names in art, architecture, and design, including LOEWE FOUNDATION president Sheila Loewe, architect Frida Escobedo, designer Naoto Fukasawa, ceramicist Magdalene Odundo, architect Wang Shu, and LOEWE creative directors Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez. Joining them are mixed-media artist Ibrahim Mahama and 2026 Craft Prize winner Jongjin Park, whose paper-and-porcelain work Strata of Illusion took home the top honor earlier this year.
"It is with great pleasure and pride that we open submissions for the 10th edition of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize," Sheila Loewe said in a statement. She added that, over the past decade, the prize has grown into "a platform for an ever-growing community of artists and artisans around the globe," demonstrating craft's ability to continually evolve while remaining deeply rooted in tradition.
The announcement follows a record-breaking 2026 edition, which attracted more than 5,100 submissions from 133 countries and regions. Alongside Park's winning work, two special mentions were awarded to Italian goldsmith Graziano Visintin and to Baba Tree Master Weavers, in collaboration with Álvaro Catalán de Ocón, for works that pushed the boundaries of traditional techniques.
Last May, Preview attended the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize exhibition in Singapore, where this year's finalists demonstrated how centuries-old techniques could be reimagined through contemporary perspectives. The exhibition underscored what the prize continues to champion: that exceptional craftsmanship isn't simply about preserving tradition but also about pushing it forward.
For Filipino artists hoping to bring local craftsmanship to an international audience, submissions for the 2027 LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize are now open until October 15, 2026. Find out more on craftprize.loewe.com.
