Ever since the pandemic hit, people have gone out of their way to make sure that their home spaces are as comfortable as they are stylish. From work desks to coffee nooks, a staple item that we love to mix and match are ceramics, especially mugs and plates.

If you’re tired of scrolling on your phone just trying to find the perfect piece to spice up your corner, an alternative idea is to make one yourself!

Erika Austria, the founder of Laro Ceramics, had only hoped that pottery would help her find some footing amidst the uncertainty of the pandemic. But what she didn’t know was that her hobby would eventually turn into a full-fledged, one-woman team, ceramic studio in a matter of months. All thanks to the shop’s online visuals, their lovely pieces gained a good amount of attraction online. But the fun didn’t just end there.

What sets Laro Ceramics apart from other pottery studios is they've devised a way for anyone to enjoy ceramics in the comfort of their own homes. The brand created the Clay Play Kits (P3800), a beginner and kid-friendly set that comes with everything you need to handmake your own pieces at home.

Nothing beats the labor of love, especially when you can actually get your hands on a tangible product in the end that you created all by yourself. Each kit includes a full set of tools, a how-to pamphlet, an online Clay Play class through Zoom, and free firing for the pieces you'll make.

For the online session, students will learn basic pottery skills such as hand-building and painting on clay. The classes will only cater to four participants, to allow Erika to focus more on each individual in the class.

If you’re not really keen on making your own stuff, you can go ahead and check out their pastel-colored, chic mugs and bowls. The wheel-thrown, stoneware clay Lilac Tile Cups (P1900) are the perfect baby blue to add some dazzle in an all-white space.

Want to place a touch of whimsy to your home? You can opt for the Blue Floral Cup (P1900). Its design always varies as the petals are individually hand-painted!
