As K-drama enthusiasts, it's only natural to be fascinated by certain K-actors and actresses for their charms, visuals, and of course, acting skills. But aside from being ultra talented onscreen, a lot of our favorite actors are also intellectuals. Some even got to immerse themselves in foreign cultures and learn new languages when they went abroad to study.
Here are seven K-drama stars who got their education overseas:
1. Jung Eun Chae
Jung Eun Chae, who played prime minister Goo Seo Ryung in The King: Eternal Monarch lived in London and studied there when she was 15 years old. She majored in textile design at Central Saint Martins.
2. Seo Ye Ji
Seo Ye Ji currently stars as a children's book author with antisocial personality disorder in It's Okay Not to Be Okay alongside Kim Soo Hyun. Prior to pursuing acting, Seo Ye Ji shared on the South Korean variety show Knowing Bros that she spent three years in Spain to study. She also knows how to speak the local language.
3. Jung Ryeo Won
Jung Ryeo Won is best known for her role in My Name Is Kim Sam Soon. But prior to joining the Korean show biz industry, Ryeo Won had lived in Australia with her family where she studied international business at Griffith University.
4. Choi Woo Shik
The Parasite star moved to Canada with his family when he was 10 years old. He later on went to Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada where he took a degree in arts.
5. Park Min Young
Hardcore Park Min Young fans will know that the What's Wrong with Secretary Kim? actress can actually speak and converse in English pretty well. In a magazine interview, Park Min Young reveals that this was because she spent some time as an exchange student at an American high school where she got to learn the language and immerse in the culture. She also used her English name Rachel while she was spending time overseas.
6. Ahn Hyo Seop
Ahn Hyo Seop, who starred in K-dramas like My Father Is Strange and Dr. Romantic 2, moved to Canada with his family when he was young where he had his education. He moved back to Korea on his own when he was 17 to initially train as an idol before becoming an actor.
7. Han Ye Seul
Han Ye Seul, a South Korean actress who acted in the series Birth of a Beauty and 20th Century Boy and Girl, was actually born in the U.S. She also studied at Cerritos College in L.A. and majored in Computer Graphics.
