It looks like we've found our bet for Miss World 2018 in Katarina Rodriguez. After going against 39 other contestants, the Davao native was crowned Miss World Philippines 2018 in the Mall of Asia Arena last Sunday, October 7.
Katarina won the coveted title after eloquently answering her Q&A portion, wherein she explained her perspective on why beauty pageants are anything but a form of female exploitation.
"One should live by example and not by opinion, and I would like to admit I was one of those before until I learned more about what beauty pageants are about. One thing I can tell you is that you may think this is very competitive, but in fact, you'll understand beauty pageants when you know that it is actually not competitive towards the other women; it's competitve towards yourself, and it's all about women empowerment. And you can feel that, in this group of girls, each girl knows that we are all individually beautiful," she answered.
Apart from the main title, Katarina also won the following special awards: Miss Bluewater Spa, Miss Cosmoskin, Best in Long Gown, Miss Resorts World Manila, and the Beach Beauty Challenge Winner.
The 26-year-old beauty will be representing the Philippines in Miss World 2018 set to be held in Sanya, China on December 8, 2018.
Congratulations, Katarina! We're definitely all eyes and ears for Miss World 2018.
