In case you didn’t know, top Hallyu celebs Park Seo Joon and IU are set to star in an upcoming movie, and if their combined star power wasn’t enough, it looks like Kang Ha Neul’s joining the cast too!
According to Soompi, the actor’s agency TH Company confirmed his special cameo on Dream last August 19. “Kang Ha Neul happily agreed to appear in the film for free as he knows director Lee Byung Hun, Park Seo Joon, and IU,” states his agency.
This marks a reunion for the trio as Ha Neul previously worked with Seo Joon in the 2017 film Midnight Runners. He also starred alongside IU in the SBS drama Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo back in 2016.
Ha Neul recently received critical acclaim after winning the Best Actor award in the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards for his role on When the Camellia Blooms. He famously beat out other fan favorites, including Seo Joon and Crash Landing on You’s Hyun Bin in the said the category.
Set for a 2021 release, Dream follows Seo Joon as Yoon Hong Dae, a professional soccer player under disciplinary probation. To make up for his unfortunate situation, he gets appointed as the soccer coach for a misfit group of homeless hopefuls who try out for the annual Homeless World Cup.
Though her role remains unclear, the film also happens to be IU's feature film debut. "I’ll approach the project with both excitement and responsibility. I’m so happy to be working with actors and cast members who are always warm and welcoming and whom I have so much to learn from," the singer and actress said during Dream's first table read.
