Mount Jiri is a new series written by screenwriter Kim Eun Hee, known for her hit projects Kingdom and Signal. Actress Jun Ji Hyun has been confirmed as the female lead, marking her anticipated return since starring in Legend of the Blue Sea in 2017. And according to recent reports, fellow Kingdom star Ju Ji Hoon might be starring alongside her!
In an article published by Korean news site Soompi, Ji Hoon's agency, KeyEast Entertainment, has revealed that he received the offer but nothing is confirmed yet."Ju Ji Hoon has previously scheduled activities, so it does not seem possible for him to film this year. For such reasons, the production team has just checked Ju Ji Hoon’s schedule for now,” the agency explained.
Mount Jiri will tell the story of Mount Jiri National Park rangers, and Ji Hoon's role will be Kang Hyeon Jo, a rookie national park ranger who is hiding a secret. He used to be a lieutenant in the military and lost his successor during a training march on Mount Jiri," Allkpop.com reported. He will develop a close relationship with Ji Hyun's character, Seo Yi Kang.
Previously, Park Seo Joon was also reported to have been offered the role of the male lead.
Meanwhile, director Lee Eung Bok, known for his work on Descendants of the Sun, Mr. Sunshine, and Goblin, will be helming the project.
Ju Ji Hoon is known for K-dramas Hyena and Kingdom, which are both streaming on Netflix.
