If you loved Jun Ji Hyun’s brief but mysterious cameo in the finale episode of Kingdom Season 2, then you’re in for a treat. While she didn’t exactly share a scene with the zombie thriller drama’s lead actor Ju Ji Hoon in the aforementioned special appearance, it looks like the two are set to star together on a different upcoming K-drama soon!
Last Friday, September 4, it was finally confirmed that Ju Ji Hoon has accepted the offer to play the lead role for Mount Jiri alongside Jun Ji Hyun.
According to Soompi, the drama will tell the story of Mount Jiri National Park rangers. Ju Ji Hoon is poised to play Kang Hyun Jo, “a military academy graduate with a deep secret who joins as a new ranger” and crosses paths with Seo Yi Kang (Jun Ji Hyun), “the top ranger who knows everything about navigating Mount Jiri National Park.”
Mount Jiri will be penned by Kim Eun Hee, the same writer behind the Kingdom series. It will be directed by Lee Eung Bok, who worked on popular dramas such as Dream High, School 2013, Descendants of the Sun, Goblin, and Mr. Sunshine.
The production team is already preparing to begin filming this September, and the drama is slated to premiere in the first half of 2021.
Needless to say, we're so excited for this pairing!
