With its gripping storyline and star-studded cast, Disney+’s Moving is on the watch lists of many K-drama fans. Among the packed cast list includes the OG Hallyu heartthrob Jo In Sung, marking his return nine years after his last leading drama role. But according to a recent interview, this may not have been the case if not for a memorable change in the Moving script!

In the 2023 adaptation of the hit webtoon of the same name, Moving takes on three high school students each harboring a secret, as they all possess unique superpowers inherited from their equally skilled parents. In Sung plays Doo-shik, a formidable black ops agent with flying powers.

While he doesn’t make his appearance until seven episodes in, episodes eight and nine unravel his backstory and how he met his future wife Lee Mi-hyun (played by Han Hyo Joo), a fellow agent with superhuman senses.

After a romance prodded by a secret mission, distance thwarts their budding real relationship. Upon failing his task of assassinating the then-North Korean president Kim Il Sung due to death caused by illness, Doo-shik goes missing in action and is later declared an enemy of the agency.
Despite the targets on his back, Doo-shik and Mi-hyun exchange a sweet reunion atop her apartment. During the poignant scene, the agent lets out an emotional confession amid the pouring rain: “I was dying inside.”

In an interview with Disney+ Korea, however, it was revealed that the line in question wasn’t the original line written in the script. According to In Sung, the webtoon and the K-drama’s writer Kang Full had first opted for a more straightforward confession.
“There is a story behind this dialogue. The old line is ‘I love you.’ So the day I first met Kang Full, I talked about it,” the actor said. During their conversation, In Sung had expressed his preference for a different line.
“‘I can’t do this. Change it to ‘I feel like I’m dying,’” In Sung recalled. “So writer Kang Full happily said ‘okay’ and I joined Moving.”
The scene proved to be a fitting callback to an earlier scene, with Doo-shik stating “I don’t care if I die” mere moments away from their climactic kiss.
