As the IKEA Philippines website launched last November 2018, more details are being made known about the Scandi-style store’s setup in the country.
Here are a few more tidbits that we have gleaned about the much-awaited home furnishing shopping destination, which plans to open in 2021.
IKEA's first Philippine store will be the largest IKEA store in the world.
The planned space at the Mall of Asia complex will be 65,000 square meters. The two-level shopping area will be the same size as other IKEA stores, but the overall size is bigger due to added facilities such as the store’s warehouse, e-commerce facility, and integrated call center.
Manila's IKEA will have an inventory of about 9,000 items.
All bearing the IKEA brand philosophy of creativity, functionality, and sustainability, the choices in this store will be massive. We hope they sell the Jon Snow IKEA cape.
IKEA Philippines will offer online sales and delivery.
They will offer e-commerce delivery to the Greater Manila Area. This is where the website, which launches today, comes in.
It will also be the largest tenant in the MOA complex.
SM, which is bringing in the IKEA franchise, will build walkways connecting the store to the main mall.
There are now 422 IKEA stores operating in 50 countries.
Additionally, there have been 2.5 billion website visits and 957 million physical store visits worldwide from September 2017 to August 2018.
That IKEA Catalogue is reason enough to look forward to the opening.
The IKEA catalogue is iconic in its own right. First published in Swedish, it now has editions in 30 languages and in over 60 different versions. About 208 million copies of the catalogue are printed—which, according to the Wall Street Journal, is more than double the number of Bibles. It's such a huge undertaking that it consumes 70 percent of the company's marketing budget.
