Kathryn Bernardo just released a special episode for Everyday Kath as she sat down to do an intimate Q&A with none other than her dad, Teddy Bernardo. The two held a heart-warming 30-minute discussion over a boodle fight set-up, brimming with Kath’s favorite food from her hometown Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija. "My papa is rarely in the spotlight, but in everything I do, he never fails to support me behind the scenes. Now finally, for the first time ever in this new episode of #EverydayKath, I was able to convince him to do a no-holds-barred interview with me!," Kath writes on her Instagram post.
The father-daughter tandem answered various questions, some of which were submitted by Kath’s fans. They ranged from curious inquiries about the actress’ childhood, to his personal dreams for Kath, to his daughter's relationship with onscreen partner and real-life boyfriend Daniel Padilla. One fan, in particular, threw it back to their beginnings as a couple and wondered how exactly Daniel won over the approval of Kath’s dad. “Show of respect,” Kath’s father answered simply. “Alam niya yung lugar niya, hindi matanong, hindi mayabang, swabe lang. Natural.”
A visibly satisfied Kathryn could only nod along before dropping her own advice on dating, revealing that it wasn’t easy for Daniel to get her parents’ trust either. “Hindi overnight na-gain ni DJ trust ni mama and papa. It took him years,” Kath says. “Kailangan ipakita ng lalaki yung intention niya sa babae. Na hindi lolokohin, at aalagan, kasi mafi-feel yun ng magulang. Feel ko ganun din akong magulang someday.”

Growing up, I've seen all versions of him—from having tight to sagging skin, from having thick black hair to white and thin, from always running to taking his time walking, from being the strictest to becoming the chillest one in our family, from being the last one to go to bed to being the first. Everything happens so fast! Cherish every moment and love your parents because time is something we can never take back. Happy happy father’s day to my ever so simple papa! I still have so many dreams for us papa! I promise to make them happen. We love and miss you!"
