Heart Evangelista announced on Twitter that she will be donating tablets for underprivileged students who cannot afford their own.
"I heard having a tablet or computer is a requirement for online classes so I will do the best I can," she said. "I’m sorry I can’t help everyone but I will try to help as much as I can."
Netizens subsequently flooded the thread asking to be included in Heart's list of beneficiaries.
This led the 35-year-old actress to announce that all tablet requests be made through her Instagram direct message, as coursing them through Twitter might get mixed up with her current correspondences for her other charitable efforts.
"I will be personally messaging each one... please [bear] with me because 2 lang kami ang gagawa nito..." she said.
The Department of Education announced last month that the Academic year 2020-2021 will begin on August 24.
Due to the constraints of COVID-19 pandemic, the department recommended a "blended/distance learning approach" that entails online classes. This would require students to own gadgets such as tablets, laptops, and mobile phones.
