With the amount of negative comments they receive every day, celebrities have grown to have thick skin on social media. Some of them aren't afraid to clap back at the rudest ones either, and we're all for it.
Case in point: Geneva Cruz's response to an ageist comment on her Facebook page, where she posted a gorgeous swimsuit photo from a vacation in Boracay. "I was smiling yesterday, I am smiling today, and I will smile tomorrow simply because life is too short to cry for anything," her caption reads.

Unfortunately, one comment on her post wasn't worth smiling about. A netizen wrote, "Wala na. Matanda na." Geneva didn't let the rude remark slide and responded to the user shortly after. Her reply reads, "Mas matanda ka. [glasses and laughing emoji] Lakas mo makatanda dyan! LMAO Matanda ka na naiinggit ka pa. Umayos ka nga po. Be nice to people."

The comments section soon became filled with love and support for her. Many of her followers replied to the rude comment as well, defending Geneva.
Later on, the singer-actress posted another comment to explain the reason for her response. "Minsan lang kasi napakadaling maging rude sa social media kasi hindi naman natin nakikita ang tao ng personal. We can even change our appearances and pretend to be someone else maka-sakit lang tayo ng kapwa natin," said Geneva.
The performer also stated she doesn't understand how someone older than her could comment about her age. "Old? Just because I'm in my 40s, I'm old, na? Eh before nga nasabihan ako na wag na ko kumanta because I'm old na? Eh, performing is my livelihood; it’s how I support myself, my children, and my family... so excuse me lang if nagsasalita ako kung kinakailangan."
Geneva reflects, "I'm 44 years old, but deep inside, I feel younger than those digits. Age is only a number, and you know why I look more youthful than my age? Because I choose to only wish my fellow people love and support....when someone needs uplifting; I'm all for it....I will remind that person that he or she is special. Life is too short to be remembered as someone rude and arrogant."
