Oppo has fast gained recognition in the local market positioning itself as the “selfie expert,” and tapping a number of young celebrities like Sarah Geronimo, Julia Barretto, and Coleen Garcia to help spread the word. Last night, they launched their newest and most premium offering to date, the Find X. With a slew of unique features and a price tag of P49,990 (you can pre-order a unit on Lazada and receive P5000 worth of accessories), Oppo’s positioned this phone to rival other premium handsets in the market. Below, we list a few things that might make you consider the Find X as an upgrade to what you’re currently using.
It’s a true full screen.
Unlike other smart phones that have a bezel surrounding the glass or a notch at the top of the screen to house the front camera and face sensors, the Find X eliminated the visible front camera in order to achieve a 93.8% screen-to-body ratio, the largest that is available in the market today. This means you’ll be spoiled with being able to enjoy images and videos on your mobile device on the Find X’s full 1080 by 2340 pixel display.
The cameras are hidden and loaded.
If the design has you wondering where the cameras are, you’ll find them hidden between the front display and the back cover of the phone. A mechanism raises and retracts them whenever you need to unlock the phone using the O-Face facial recognition feature, and take a photo with either the 25 megapixel front-facing camera or the dual 16 and 20 megapixel rear cameras. It only takes 0.5 seconds for this pop-up motion to happen, so you barely notice it when you unlock your phone.
It’s got a big battery.
Battery life is always a constant woe for those of us that enjoy creating and consuming media on our phone. That doesn’t include other phone usage like making calls and sending messages. The Oppo Find X is equipped with a large 3720mAh battery and its VOOC Flash Charging system allows you to recharge your phone to full in about an hour.
Taking photographs that are AI-enhanced.
Oppo has made use of AI technology to enhance the quality of the photos and videos taken with the phone. The 3D AI Selfie mode and AI Portrait Mode make use of facial optimization technology that taps on up to 128 points on the face to better capture details. AI Portrait Mode will also allow you to play with various types of lighting treatments within the camera interface. The phone also has AI Scene Recognition that automatically balances the brightness, contrast, exposure, and color to bring out more detail in the scenery or objects you are photographing.
All this plus it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 128- or 256-gigabyte storage options, 8-gigabytes of RAM, and a ColorOS Android operating system. The variant made in collaboration with sports car brand Lamborghini will be released in Q4 of this year, and it will have 512-gigabytes of storage and SuperVOOC fast-charging that can fully charge the phone from 0% to 100% in just 35 minutes.
