Kris Aquino Expresses Support for "Whatever Sexual Preference" Bimby Aquino Will Choose

As the "Queen of all Media," Kris Aquino is well aware that criticisms and unsolicited comments are part of the job. As she continues to prioritize her health, she remains active on social media, often taking time to respond to netizens.

On a number of occasions through the years, Kris has been particularly vocal on the topic of her youngest child Bimby's sexuality. As some netizens have assumed or labeled him in certain ways, the celebrity mom has defended him. In all these conversations, Kris repeatedly expresses her support for her son, emphasizing that she sees no issue with whatever sexual preferences he may have.

In 2021, Kris took to social media to address a slate of controversial topics tied to her and her family. A pressing matter at the time was claims that her eldest, Josh, had allegedly gotten a girl pregnant, which Kris confidently denied.

Another issue was the claim that Bimby was gay, garnering him unwarranted homophobic remarks. Kris replied: "About Bimb, he is 13 years old. I know my son doesn't identify as being gay, but in the event he ever does, he will still be my son." She went on to call out the blatant homophobia displayed by her and Bimby's bashers, stating that their behavior is "no longer welcome in 2021."

To definitively address the topic, Kris went on a Facebook Live with Bimby a couple of weeks later. Upon asking her son what he feels when he's thrown such comments, he said: "Wala, I don’t really feel anything. If you think I’m gay, alright. But you do realize that the gay community sa Philippines is a strong community. And you do realize that I’m 14. I know what I am. I'm as straight as an arrow."

Kris affirmed Bimby's statement, responding that his sexual identity wouldn't affect her perception of him. "Whatever you are, I’ll accept. I really don’t care, honestly. Whatever you choose to be, it will be fine with me for as long as you excel. Whatever you’re going to be, you better be the best at the profession you choose," she stated in the 2021 interview.

Recently, a 2024 exchange between Kris and a netizen resurfaced, drawing renewed attention to the Queen of All Media's stance on Bimby's sexuality. The netizen assumed Bimby was gay and asked about his supposed boyfriend. In response, Kris listed several traits she believed indicated that her son was not gay.

"Whatever sexual preference my son will choose, I will be supportive, but because I have so many gay friends [that] I know he’s not," she replied.

"He refuses to spend more than P20k on clothes... he's not brand conscious," Kris said. She added that her son was interested in activities such as mixed martial arts and shooting. She ended her response by saying she couldn't ignore "idiotic" comments, which prompted her lengthy reply to the netizen.
