KATSEYE Confirms Sophia Laforteza's Return Date for 2027
Sophia is set to rejoin the global girl group in January after taking several months off to focus on her well-being.
There's good news for KATSEYE fans. After taking a temporary hiatus to focus on her health and well-being, Sophia Laforteza is officially set to return to the global girl group in January 2027.
On October 8, HYBE x Geffen Records announced through Weverse that the 23-year-old Filipina singer will resume group activities beginning the first week of January next year. Sophia has been on hiatus since August 7, when she stepped back from performing to prioritize her mental and physical health.
The announcement also confirmed that Sophia will not participate in the North American leg of KATSEYE's THE WILDWORLD TOUR, which begins on October 13, or any remaining promotional activities this year. The label assured fans that it has been supporting the singer throughout her break.
Sophia Laforteza Opens Up About Her Recovery
Following the announcement, Sophia took to Instagram Stories to personally address KATSEYE's fans, known as EYEKONS, and express her gratitude for their continued support.
The singer acknowledged that the past two months have been challenging, but shared that she has been receiving the care she needs and learning how to better look after herself. She also thanked fans for their patience and understanding during this time.
While she admitted that missing the group's remaining tour dates has been difficult, Sophia explained that she intends to spend the next few months continuing her training and focusing on her recovery.
Reflecting on her decision to take a break, she shared that she has come to understand the importance of stepping away when necessary, rather than pushing herself beyond her limits.
Her hope, she said, is to return feeling “happier, healthier, stronger, more grounded,” and ready to give her best to the group and its supporters.
Sophia also reassured fans that she has remained in contact with her fellow members and is looking forward to performing alongside them again.
When Will Sophia Rejoin KATSEYE?
Sophia is expected to resume group activities in the first week of January 2027, though the exact date of her first return performance has yet to be announced.
In the meantime, KATSEYE will continue its scheduled activities with Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, and Yoonchae Jeung. Fellow member Manon Bannerman has also been on hiatus since February 2026, with no official return date announced as of writing.
In the coming months, Sophia will continue prioritizing her well-being while preparing for her return to the stage. For now, EYEKONS can look forward to welcoming the Filipina singer back to KATSEYE in the new year.
