On December 15, Claudine Barretto announced on Facebook that she has decided to postpone her two-day fan gathering, originally scheduled for December 16 and 17. The actress shared that the decision was made due to health concerns, citing a relapse related to anorexia.

“I promise it will be worth it,” she wrote, adding that the event has been moved to February. “Know that I love you all, and we will get through this relapse like before.”

While this appears to be the first time Claudine has explicitly mentioned an eating disorder, she has previously been open about her mental health struggles. On August 24, 2025, she shared an emotional video on social media showing her embracing her psychiatrist while being comforted by her son, Noah. In the caption, she wrote, “Yes, this is what depression looks like, so please don’t judge.”

What Is Anorexia?

According to the Cleveland Clinic, anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder that involves severe calorie restriction and, often, a very low body weight. This distorted perception of self-image may lead individuals to limit their calorie intake to dangerous extremes, often engaging in “extreme dieting behaviors to keep their body weight as low as possible.”

The condition is classified as a mental health disorder and is linked to the nervous system, affecting thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. While anorexia is generally treatable, it can present serious behavioral and physical symptoms with long-term consequences if left unaddressed. It is also important to note that there is no single way a person with anorexia looks, making empathy and understanding all the more essential.
