The second half of Bridgerton Season 4 is finally out, and it once again delivered on the steamy department. One part book readers had long anticipated for Benedict’s season was his intimate bathtub scene with the maid Sophie Baek, played by Yerin Ha. Suffice to say, fans were not disappointed. But while viewers swooned during the hot and heavy moment, Yerin revealed it wasn’t exactly as sexy to do in real life.
The “Bridgerton” Bathtub Scene Took 6 Hours to Film
Intimate scenes on TV do take a lot of planning out and rehearsing, but what Yerin and her co-star Luke Thompson couldn’t prepare for was the length of the bathtub. The actress, who’s 5’2, shared that Luke had to grip her tightly with his legs so she wouldn’t drown.
“She kept floating down the river. We had to sort of brace a little bit,” Luke told Refinery29. “It was so slippery. We were like two seals, because they kept pouring in this thing to make it milky, but I think it had oil in it.”
According to Yerin, the extra liquid was meant to create a shiny, glistening effect that no doubt helped to produce a dream-like atmosphere, except this only made it harder for her to change positions when the script called for it. “When I had to turn around, I was like, ‘How am I going to turn around without sliding off?'” she recounted for ELLE US.

In the end, Yerin and Luke were submerged in milky water for six whole hours. The struggle didn’t end on set, either. Yerin told media that she developed a skin reaction that caused hives all over her body, a day after filming.
“I put baby powder all on me because I was told it would help dry my skin to put the intimacy wear on with my tape,” she told Capital Breakfast. “I got folliculitis, so I needed steroid cream! But I blame myself, because I think it was a combination of baby powder and the bath water. So it’s me, I’m a sensitive gal!”
Despite the unexpected mishaps, both actors kept a positive outlook and were able to turn the awkward shoot day into a funny story to talk about. “Because of those things, it actually made it a lot more fun, to be honest with you. We had a good laugh,” said Yerin.
You can catch the full fourth season of Bridgerton exclusively on Netflix.

Jam’s way of exploration is by reading and writing. She hopes to always be lost in words and, occasionally, a good podcast.
