Turning 18 is a special milestone in every girl's life, so naturally, you'd want to celebrate it in the best way possible. And for Deanne Christine Madrona, an incoming first-year student at the Ateneo de Manila University under the BS Management (Honors) program, that means feeling like a fairytale princess on her big day. Making this dream into a reality are her parents and event stylist Dave Sandoval, who turned the Forbes Ballroom of Conrad Manila into an enchanted forest that befits her lavish coming-of-age celebration.
Scroll down to read more details about Deanne's jaw-dropping 18th birthday celebration, which was coordinated by Mayette Cinco of MCC Events, and check out more photos from the evening, which was beautifully captured by Metrophoto and famed videographer Jason Magbanua.
The Enchanting Theme
"The overall theme of my debut is a magical forest that illuminates at night," Deanne explains. "Think of it like an enchanted secret forest made just for me. All the people who are dear to me [were] the only ones permitted to enter."
As a debutante, Deanne was very hand-on when it came to the nitty gritty, making sure that every single detail was aligned with her creative vision. "I was keen on [the venue having little to no] traditional flowers and so it was filled with lush, unique greenery instead," she shares, adding how grateful she is to her parents who allowed her to take the reins. "Thanks to my parents, Mommy Ana and Daddy Ian, I had the freedom and all the support I needed to curate the most magical ideas for my debut... Of course, it wouldn't have been possible without Sir Dave Sandoval, my event stylist, who brought my ideas to life."
The end-result was an enchanting sight to behold, which Dave so aptly describes as "fairytale magic with elements of enchantment, such as wildflowers among lush greenery, starburst lights, and illuminated flooring." Absolutely breathtaking!
The Debutante's Looks
Of course, a fairytale is never complete without the princess. Deanne certainly looked the part. She was a showstopper in three different frocks that were custom-made for her by local fashion designer Albert Andrada. And just like the luxurious setup for her 18th birthday bash, her dresses also had a story to tell.
While she admittedly didn't have a specific look in mind, Deanne knew that she wanted "to embody a goddess watching over her magical forest." Even her event hashtag for the night, #EmittingRaDEANNEce, stemmed from that idea of being a radiant muse.
"I wanted to express different parts of myself in the gowns that Tito Albert Andrada designed for me," Deanne narrates, explaining the idea behind each ethereal look that she wore. "It started with a big blue gown, which represented the innocence in my childhood; then it shifted to a fiery red gown, which represented the bravery I'd need to face the future. There was also a purple performance dress to showcase my newly discovered talent, which is playing the cello."
Not forgetting her "stage fairy godmother," the debutante also credited celebrity MUA Toni Aviles, who did her makeup for the special evening.
When asked what her favorite moment from the evening was, Deanne couldn't simply choose one. "Each and every part of my debut was enchanting and memorable," she explains. "From the non-traditional 18 roses to the captivating speeches made by family and friends, my debut was picture-perfect."
True enough, picture-perfect is exactly how we'd describe this enchanting debut as well. Happy 18th birthday, Deanne!
