Ever year, like clockwork, the movie world sees a slew of new and fresh holiday movies to usher in the December cheer in advance. It’s no different for Netflix, of course, but it looks like the streaming platform is dropping their annual rom-com holiday flick earlier than expected.
Aptly titled Holidate, the upcoming Netflix original follows two lonely singles, Sloane (Emma Roberts) and Jackson (Luke Bracey). To put it straight, they absolutely despise the holidays. When they’re not stuck in painfully awkward dates, they’re sitting at the kids table, bored and feeling even more pathetic than the year before. Everything changes when the two strangers finally cross paths one particularly bad Christmas night and make a pact right then and there: to be each other’s “holidate” for every festive occasion throughout the next year. The catch? They can never develop any romantic feelings towards each other. Then again, whoever said you could control your own feelings?

Holidate is set to premiere on Netflix this October 28, 2020.
