After months of speculation, it’s finally confirmed: Song Joong Ki’s officially returning to our TV screens soon with an exhilarating JTBC drama! News of the actor being offered the lead part in Chaebol Family’s Youngest Son first broke out in May of this year right after Vincenzo came to a close, giving SJK’s fans hope they won’t have to miss him for too long. Luckily, the Hallyu star confirmed his involvement in the show just less than two months later, and we couldn’t be more excited!
We’ll have to wait a bit more before the K-drama comes out, but fret not, we’ve got all the deets you need to know.
Here’s everything you need to know about “Chaebol Family’s Youngest Son”.
The Plot
If you loved Joong Ki as the cunning anti-hero on Vincenzo, then we can guarantee you’ll root for him in this JTBC series, too. Described as a revenge fantasy drama, Chaebol Family’s Youngest Son centers on Joong Ki as Yoon Hyun-woo, a man who’s been loyal to a rich family, the Sunyang Group, for as long as he can remember. When the same people he trusts frames him for embezzlement and has him murdered, Hyun-woo gets a chance at revenge after he’s reborn as the family’s youngest son.

The Cast
Confirmed to star alongside Joong Ki is veteran actor Lee Sung Min, best known for his work on the office drama Misaeng: Incomplete Life. The award-winning talent also top-billed Netflix’s recent Korean horror film The 8th Night. Sung Min is set to play Jin Yang-chul, the relentlessly competitive and greedy head of the Sunyang Group, who’ll no doubt butt heads with Joong Ki’s character.

Though no other cast members have been confirmed just yet, two names are already being linked to the project. Hospital Playlist actress Shin Hyun Bin received an offer to star opposite Joong Ki as prosecutor Seo Min-young, a determined character who’s not above breaking the law if it means getting justice.

Meanwhile, SNSD member Tiffany Young’s agency confirmed that the singer was offered the part of a Korean character who’s lived overseas, for the show. Should she accept it, this will serve as Tiffany’s K-drama debut for a non-cameo role.

The Crew
Helming the project is She Was Pretty and W: Two Worlds director Jung Dae Yoon. He’ll be joined by screenwriter Kim Tae Hee, who’s known to have penned dramas like Sungkyunkwan Scandal (which also starred Joong Ki) and Beautiful Mind.
The Release Date
Chaebol Family’s Youngest Son is projected to premiere on JTBC in 2022.
