Hearing a personal message from one of your celebrity favorites is definitely something that can bring forth the warm fuzzies and brighten your day. Of course, getting one isn’t that easy—you either need to know someone working in the biz or try your luck at a fan meet. But what if we were to tell you that there is a website you can visit to make an official request for a birthday greeting, inspiring words, or helpful tips from the stars you look up to?
One such platform exists and its officially been launched in the Philippines this July. It’s called Ace, which stands for authentic celebrity experiences, and their goal is to bring the audience closer to their heroes through personalized video messages. Run by Singapore-based Ace Entertainment Holdings, it is the first-and-only celebrity shoutout digital platform in Southeast Asia.
Here’s how it works:
First, choose the celebrity you’d like to hear from in the roster on the website. Pageant fans, you may want shout outs from Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, Miss Universe finalists Maxine Medina (2016) and Shamcey Supsup (2011), Miss World 1993 second runner-up Ruffa Gutierrez, and Bb. Pilipinas World 2007 Maggie Wilson. But scroll through the lineup and you’ll find actresses, sports personalities, and more from all over the region.
Second, fill out the booking form. Aside from typing in your name, you’ll need to specify who the message is for, in case you are requesting it for someone else, and provide pronunciation guides. The site also requests that you be as specific as possible with regards to the message you want the star to give. If you’d like a festive birthday greeting or tips on how to be confident when speaking in front of a crowd, write it down so the celebrity will know what she or he would like to say.
Third, pay online to finalize your booking. Unfortunately, this is still a business and not a free service, so think about it as paying a fee for the access and the work involved in coordinating with the celebrity, filming the video, and sending it out to you. You’ll notice that fees vary per individual, and in the case of some, like with Queen P, funds earned will be donated to a chosen charity. (Pia is donating the proceeds of her shout outs to the World Wildlife Fund for the protection of the whale sharks and butanding interaction officers of Donsol.)
Last, wait about 5 days for your video message to be created, and wait for it to land in your email inbox.
