You and #bae have been together for a long time now, and you've been wanting to go on an adventure with him to add some excitement to the relationship. However, you find yourself apprehensive and asking a lot of questions: "What will other people think if we travel together?" or "Is traveling with him worth it?" and so much more.
The truth is, traveling works wonders for your relationship, and if you're still having some second thoughts about going on a journey with your boyfriend, here are some reasons that might convince you to think otherwise:
1. He'll make the journey more bearable.
We all know that trips can sometimes be tedious, especially if you'll be on a series of bus and boat rides for hours or even days. But with your boyfriend by your side, you'll endure the long wait because as they say, misery loves company. If he's a barrel of laughs, he can take your mind off the discomfort with his jokes and tricks. Talking with him is also a productive way to pass time. Communication, as we all know, is vital to any relationship.
2. Those travel photos are going to be awesome.
Nowadays, people have a "Pics or it didn't happen" motto when traveling. After all, what's a vacation without an Instagram post, right? Since you're traveling with your boyfriend, you'll no longer have to stick with just photos of your legs or bad selfies as mementos of your vacation. You can have a sweet and memorable couple photo with him against a sunset background, or take turns in snapping photos of each other while zip lining.
3. You get to know a little bit more about him.
Traveling puts you both outside of your comfort zones. Without your usual routines, you two will experience new scenarios and situations that could make you act differently from the usual. This allows you to see another side of your boyfriend that you never knew existed. Who knew that as short-tempered as he is when it comes to commuting in the metro, he actually enjoys a slow bus ride like the one from Puerto Princesa to El Nido? You may think he's a bit shy on a group date, but you discover that he's friendly when interacting with the locals. You'll discover that there's a lot more to him when you're in a whole new place.
4. Travel mishaps make for good relationship advice.
Just like in a relationship, you'll experience lots of hurdles when you travel. Some of them couldn't be avoided or caused by a momentary lapse in judgment coming from either of you. You can learn a thing or two from delayed flights or missing luggage that you can apply to your relationship. Just remember, regardless of whether whose fault it is, it's best to fix a problem using two heads rather than one.
5. You'll learn teamwork when traveling.
Whether it's haggling for souvenirs or making travel arrangements, it's always good to have an extra pair of hands. When you team up with your boyfriend, chances are, your vacation will be smoother and more organized.
6. It's great to have someone to share the expenses with.
Vacations are not always cheap. That is why it is better to share all your expenses with a person you can trust. Just remember to split all bills evenly, especially if poor boyfie has been paying for all of your dates the past few years. Be the 21st century woman that you are and agree to pay 50% of everything.
7. You'll make memories you'll always cherish.
Traveling instantly becomes 100 times better when you share it with the one you love. When both of you go on a trip, you get to bond and connect in a special way. You'll make memories you'll gladly turn back to when things get a bit rocky or when you need reminding of the happy days. Plus, if you actually do end up together, you could show your travel photos to your future children while telling them about your love story.
