Last Saturday, January 30, we finally witnessed the much-awaited union between celebrity couple Pauleen Luna and Vic Sotto. All eyes were on the 27-year-old actress who walked down the aisle in her intricately sewn Francis Libiran frock. Glowing and radiating with happiness, the bride lit up the room wearing a picture-perfect smile and a flawless yet natural-looking makeup.
Style Bible reached out to Pauleen’s makeup artist, Mickey See, to know more about her preparation pior to the wedding ceremony and to hopefully score some beauty tips. Read his interview below and find out how to recreate her fresh bridal look.
How long has Pauleen been a client of yours?
“We started as friends on Instagram. We’ve never formally been introduced before. We just like each other’s photos and exchange comments—like, when I post photos of Liza Soberano, whom she finds very pretty. So when Pauleen got engaged, I was excited for her, but I really didn’t think she’d message me about doing her makeup on her wedding day. And then it happened, she sent me a private message inquiring about my rates for bridal packages and how to go about with the makeup trial.”
So how was the makeup trial?
“Both of our schedules were really packed, so we couldn’t find time to squeeze in a trial makeup session. Instead, I did her makeup during her endorsement shoot for a beauty product. That’s when it started, and then I also did her look for her bridal boudoir photo shoot. Our working relationship just grew from there. She’s very true to herself, which I really like about her.”
Was there a particular look that she requested?
“She’s not hard to please. She just wanted it fresh, light, natural, and blooming. It was perfect because that’s how I usually do makeup for my brides, as well. Pauleen’s also already beautiful to start with, so that made it a lot easier.”
How long did it take to do her makeup?
“About an hour and a half. Normally, makeup starts around six hours before the wedding ceremony because there’s still a pictorial in between. Also, the fresh and natural look takes slightly longer to create since it has to be seamless, flawless, and long-lasting.”
Speaking of which, tell us more about her look. How can other brides recreate what you did on Pauleen for her wedding day?
Used on Pauleen: RMK Foundation, Laura Mercier Face Illuminator, Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit, Perfect Brow Pencil, Tinted Brow Gel, and Liquid Lipstick in Soft Lilac, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Ethereal Glow, and Bokh Toh False Eyelashes in BT02
“She already has great skin to begin with, so I only applied a thin layer of foundation to last her the whole day. I mixed in a bit of illuminizer on the cheek area to give it a sheen glow, and then I set it with loose powder for a lightweight coverage. I applied soft pink blush on the apple of her cheeks and then gave her a slight contour. On her eyes, I wanted it to still look natural so I chose a palette of pink, beige, and flesh—nothing too dark. I also just matched the color of her brows with her hair, which is light brown. Then finally, for her lips, I used liquid lipstick on her then layered it with a bit of lip balm for added moisture.”
