Some people believe that powder foundations are only for oily skin, but the hundred different formulations out in the market beg to differ. A natural-looking matte finish won't ever go out of style, and every skin type can rock it on occasion. Check out our quick guide below to find the one for you!
DRY SKIN
You wouldn't expect powder foundations to exist for this skin type, but they do! In fact, powders are great alternatives if you want a naturally matte skin over a wet, dewy complexion. Use a very light hand and pick products with finer pigments and a silky finish to avoid a dull and chalky look.

COMBINATION SKIN
Although combination skin can be more forgiving to powders than dry skin, avoid those with an ultra matte finish. Remember, you still have dry areas to pay attention to, so semi-matte formulas that won't accentuate them are your best option.

OILY SKIN
Going for a mattifying formula is the obvious choice for oily skin, but be careful to never apply too much. Overloading powder for this skin type tends to accentuate large pores and texture, or worse, force the skin into producing more oil. So when using powder foundations, don't forget to moisturize and build coverage in layers!

SENSITIVE SKIN
Wearing liquid foundation all day can be a tad overwhelming for reactive skin, so opt for a light layer of powder foundation if you need more coverage. For best results, look for mineral foundations or mild formulas that'll give you light to medium coverage.
