The entertainment industry is filled with glamorous events, but beyond the red carpet, these moments also shine a light on the talents behind the scenes.

Take, for example, makeup artist Thazzia Falek and hairstylist Dale Mallari. Since their first collaboration in 2023, the two have become a go-to duo—most recently working their magic at the GMA Gala 2025. In this exclusive, Preview speaks to Dale and Thazzia about the inspiration behind the looks of Mimiyuuuh and Shuvee Etrata, plus the exact products they used to bring their visions to life.

Behind the Look: Mimiyuuuh

Daring and edgy, Mimiyuuuh’s look stood out, and serving as a reflection of her personal interests was one of the reasons why. “The makeup direction was inspired by the bold, editorial energy of Lisa’s ROCKSTAR music video,” Thazzia revealed. “We wanted to create something that felt fresh, fearless, and high-impact—a beauty look that could live in both a music video and red carpet ready.”

Reimagining the look, Thazzia adorned Mimiyuuuh’s eyes with an elongated bold liner that lifted her gaze with a “smoked-out definition and shimmer that hit under flash,” which embodied the essence of being born for the camera. Reflecting this as well was skin that “was kept with a glass-like finish to hold up under lights.” Thazzia kept the lips muted, utilizing only subtle contour and a hint of gloss, sustaining the eyes as the look’s focal point.

Dale added that, apart from Lisa of Blackpink, he was also inspired by a homegrown popstar: Sarah Geronimo. “I knew Mimiyuuuh will love it ‘cause she is heavily inspired by these two empowered women.” Dale also knew, from the moment he saw Mimiyuuuh’s customized HA.MU ensemble, that they must go with something edgy. And that’s how the internet personality’s iconic bangs were transformed into a different, alternative look—with a long tousled mullet to match. The thoughtful look overall was a reflection of Mimiyuuuh’s influence on beauty, fashion, and self-expression.

When the glam duo first collaborated two years ago, it was actually Mimiyuuuh who was their first muse! It’s been a fun, creative, and inspiring experience for them so far—“It doesn’t feel like work when we’re with hair because she feels like home,” Thazzia shared.

“She brings this energy that instantly lights up the room. She knows what she wants, but she also trusts the process and gives you space to play,” she added. This open, joint effort was “like playing Barbie with a friend,” Dale explained. “She’s always game to explore new looks.” Thazzia expounded, “There’s a real sense of collaboration—she listens, throws in ideas, laughs a lot, and hypes everyone up.

Behind the Look: Shuvee Etrata

Along with established muses come new ones, which is certainly what Dale and Thazzia experienced as the GMA Gala 2025 provided them the chance to work with Shuvee Etrata for the first time. “Shuvee has one of the most beautiful faces I’ve seen and I’ve always admired her beauty—she’s a true Filipina beauty, honestly,” expressed Thazzia. “The inspiration was all about timeless beauty with a fresh, youthful glow. We didn’t want anything too heavy or overly glam—just something that brought out her natural features and made her feel like her, but elevated.”

To achieve the look of a bronze goddess, Thazzia focused on bringing out the celebrity's natural glow. Her charming eyes were softly defined, complemented by a lip that quietly stood out. She explained, “Everything was meant to feel effortless, but still made a statement.”

Assuring Shuvee looked radiant and lit-from-within in every angle, Thazzia gave precise focus on skin prep, such as “hydrating, gentle sculpting, and layering products in a way that kept the skin fresh.” She kept it consistent by also using a luminous primer, a light-reflecting foundation, and cream highlighters. A pro tip: “Instead of piling on shimmer, it was more about creating dimension through glow, so even in person or under flash, she looked dewy, healthy, and effortless.” The remaining elements of the look such as the bronze eyes and nude, naturally glossy lips, were designed to work in harmony with Shuvee’s morena complexion.

One thing about Thazzia and Dale’s intersecting efforts is their clear grasp of knowing when to let a certain aspect shine brighter—an unmistakable understanding that everything contributes to the overall look. “For the GMA Gala, we wanted to highlight Shuvee’s innate beauty. Her hair should be clean yet soft, so the team, Shuvee, and I collaborated, and we came up with a mid-part half ponytail and soft waves,” explained Dale. He added that they hoped to deliver “a facecard moment,” which is why he “made sure that her ponytail is clean and snatched to accentuate her facial features.”

Shuvee is sure of herself, and both Dale and Thazzia agree on this. “I’m glad she’s very open to ideas, and she brings the energy. It’s that trust and openness that really elevate the look, shared Thazzia. Dale echoed this, saying, “What I loved most when working with Shuvee is that she’s vocal with what she wants, yet open to our inputs.”

He highlighted, “Her bubbly personality is oozing. That's why the work environment is light and fun, which is really important to me when glamming up.” Truly a special moment for the Pinoy Big Brother alum, Shuvee felt emotional upon seeing her customized Rian Fernandez dress, and she also welled up with happy tears after seeing herself glammed up, an unforgettable and touching moment shared by the team.
