H&M and Stella McCartney have reunited for a new collection two decades after their first collaboration. Before the official launch on May 7, stylish personalities gathered for an exclusive first look—and among them was Thai star Mew Suppasit, who flew all the way to Manila for the occasion!

The multi-hyphenate looked nothing short of charming. Mew donned a “Rock Royalty” muscle tee, paired with a bold snakeskin-printed bomber jacket. He teamed the look with dark denim and accentuated it with vivid red accessories.

Needless to say, his handsome face was just as show-stopping. Behind his grooming for that evening was Filipino makeup artist Angeline Dela Cruz.

Preview chats with Angeline to get the details of his chiseled look.

“Very fresh and natural” was Mew’s request for his grooming, since this has become his go-to. “The goal was to make him extra gwapo,” Angeline said. “And I think his fans would agree na gwapo siya talaga that night!”

Her approach to makeup artistry goes beyond what is seen on a person’s face. Instead, she focuses on building a particular vibe or aura, and with the look she did on Mew, anyone would be able to say he’s the “main character” when he walks into a room. In her words, it was “a look that can make you feel something, even if it’s so simple.”

The Key Points of Mew Suppasit’s Boy Beat

“Boy beat has to be undetectable,” Angeline emphasized, saying that the muse has to look like he just has a filter on. In line with Mew’s request, Angeline went for a clean look with just a hint of blush and contour. She detailed, “He doesn’t need a lot of correctional contouring. I just enhanced everything that’s already on his face.” When doing such looks, ample attention must be given to several factors. “If you have no control over the application, blending, and proper shade match, it’ll look bad in photos and in real life.”

On Mew, she applied two shades of the Dior Forever Skin Contour to achieve a seamless sculpted look. It’s known to be resistant to heat and humidity, too, making it a reliable choice for the weather in both the Philippines and Thailand.

Angeline generally goes for contour sticks and powders, leaning towards gray tones to mimic the natural shadows on the face. With that, she set the creams with her “favorite” cool-toned powder from Peripera.

For a barely-there blush, Angeline reaches for warm, nude tones. She used the Color Crush Compact Blush from Valentino Beauty for a light wash of color on the eyes and the cheeks. “Adding a bit of color made him look more charming and less pale.” The luxurious beauty product has a silky-soft texture and a radiant finish, resembling a glow from within.

To control shine and maintain Mew’s flawless base, she applied the Valentino Beauty V-Filter. As a translucent powder, it mattifies the face without adding excess coverage for the most skin-like feel. “All I had to do for touch-ups was blot the excess oil with tissue!”

Moving on to a quite tricky step when it comes to the boy beat: the lips. Choosing a shade too noticeable—whether it’s for being too bright or too dull—might break the undetectable look. Angeline’s tip is to go with a more neutral tone.

She explains, “For lip tints kasi, usually pinks or reds yung shades.” However, browns, nudes, and peachy tones are also “a must” in her makeup kit. She used the Romand Glasting Color Gloss in Nutty Vague, a soft yet deep nude beige.

When doing a similar look, Angeline also recommends prioritizing skincare. “Not having a proper skincare routine before makeup application will make it super obvious that they’re wearing makeup.” Proper shade matching is key, too, so customize your shades according to what works best for you.
