Kim Chiu Debuts Her Shortest Haircut for the First Time in 19 Years

The upcoming teleserye The Alibi may be Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino’s fourth time starring in a project together, but it’s the actress’ first time ditching her go-to hairdo for a project. Last Thursday, June 26, Kim took to Instagram to share her hair transformation, saying goodbye to her signature long tresses and hello to a refreshing lob.

More clips of the day Kim has been waiting for were shared in a separate reel posted in collaboration with Dreamscape Entertainment. “Are you ready for the total makeover? Parang I don't like it anymore. I’ll go home na lang,” the chinita princess jokingly quipped before walking over to the haircut station. This was followed by a series of playful screams and words of encouragement from her team.

Kim also highlighted that this was her first time cutting her hair short for a role since her debut in show business, which was 19 years ago. 

It may have been a bittersweet experience for the actress, but there's no question that she pulls off the look so well! To add, this brand new transformation definitely raises anticipation for her upcoming project.

"Lob" is a term that's short for long bob. Its length is described as "short but not too short," typically falling between the chin and the shoulder.

Just like the usual bob, a lob is versatile. It can be worn with sharp edges for a striking look, or with layers for an effortless finish. The former would work better for thinner locks as it can give the illusion of a fuller mane, while the latter would favor thicker and curlier hair as it can lift weight off.

Flexible as it is, a long bob suits just about any face shape. For instance, it elongates the features of a round face and softens the angular corners of a square face. A long bob is an overall good transition from long hair as it won’t feel extremely overwhelming, and you’ll have enough room to play around with it and feel more comfortable with the change.
