We asked Kathryn Bernardo what her biggest skin concern was and without even blinking twice, she said pimples. “From first to third year high school sobrang nag breakout yung skin ko. After I turned 18 doon lang siya nag clear.” Her go-to makeup artist, Denise Ochoa-Go, also agrees, sharing with us that when Kathryn was 16 years old, she would get really bad skin breakouts.“ It wasn’t really the stress or the lack of sleep from the job, but more of puberty,” she shares.
And since puberty is inevitable, Kathryn simply had to learn to take extra care of her skin. If you’re having really bad breakouts, her advice is to seek professional help. “Go to your derma ASAP because they can really help. Sasabihin nila sayo yung ano talaga yung root ng problem kasi mahirap pag nanghuhula ka lang.” In her book, Everyday Kath: 365 Ways to be a Teen Queen, one of the 70 beauty tips you'll get from the beauty chapter is to know when it's time to stop self-medicating and time to visit a dermatogolist. There are just some skin issues that over-the-counter products cannot tackle. At the end of the day, she says that a short trip to the derma is worth it because confidence starts with having good skin. “You’ll be more confident and you don’t need that much makeup.”
