One of the biggest skincare myths that people believe is that when they use certain skincare products or ingredients together, they are being more efficient with their routine. This is a dangerous way to go about with your regimen. Some ingredients in the products you use are not meant to be mixed or used together as this can cause further irritation and sensitivity.
Here are those you can use in one skincare routine:
1. L-Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) + Sunscreen. These two products work well on their own, but together? They're an unbeatable duo!
3. L-Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) + Sunscreen + Retinoids. Incorporating these three ingredients would make for a good age defense skincare routine.
And here are the ones that you should not use together in one skincare routine:
1. L-Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) + Benzoyl peroxide. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant, and benzoyl peroxide works by oxidizing, so using them together would only cancel each other out—rendering the two ingredients useless.
2. Retinoic acid + Benzoyl peroxide. These two combined have an unstable formula that can cause your skin further irritation.
Renée advised that you don't have to use all of your skincare products for "maximum benefit." You can alternate products rather than layering them on, as they will be more effective that way.
