River Joseph is a sight for sore eyes—whether it’s his promising performances on-screen, or his charming smile in photographs. And while his visuals capture fragments of his personality, his allure goes beyond what the eyes can see. It is certainly present in the way he speaks, all the way to the fragrance he wears.

Curious what perfume he wears? Preview speaks to River about his signature scent and olfactory preferences.
River Joseph on How Scents Reflect Oneself
For someone with packed schedules like River, versatile scents are the way to go. “I can't leave the house without putting on perfume,” he shares, expounding that he prefers categorizing his scents according to what works best for day and night. The 27-year-old tells Preview that while he has a go-to fragrance, he sometimes mixes things up. “I lean more towards the manly scents, but I also don't mind the more feminine scents,” adding that he wishes to experiment with layering fragrances eventually.
River views fragrance as an outfit’s missing puzzle piece, being the ultimate accessory that complements his outfits and boosts his confidence. He notes that it’s also a thoughtful decision to choose your perfume, because it will fill the space you share with the people you encounter.
It is something he certainly appreciates when the roles are switched, too. “I would say my nose is pretty strong, and when I meet people, I smell the perfume they're wearing,” he says. “It becomes a memory that stays with me.”

With the role that scents play in both everyday and special moments, choosing one that resonates with you becomes all the more important. Dior Sauvage is what River describes as his “go-to” as it reflects his personality—from its bottle to its formulation.
River happily reveals that black is his favorite color, and the fragrance’s dark bottle matches it perfectly. This is captured by the actual scent, too, which he describes as “cool, manly, and versatile.”
The Sauvage’s clean look and olfactory profile easily catches the attention of others, and it has become a widely recognizable designer scent.
The Exact Fragrance Loved by River Joseph
The Sauvage has numerous variations, and while River wasn't able to specify his favorite one, each of them is sure to make a statement.
The first in the lineup is the bold and noble Eau De Toilette, which opens with a strong gust of citrus before being anchored by ambroxan, elemi, and woods. This is followed by the Eau De Parfum. A magical twilight is presented through the zesty facets of bergamot, followed by a tinge of pepper and a smoky aroma of vanilla.

Parfum is part of the line, too, which boasts an intense and soulful fire of mandarin notes. Creamy cedar and sandalwood accords are also in its DNA, all wrapped in a slightly bitter vanilla. Completing the list is the Elixir—a spicy, fresh, and woody take on the iconic fragrance. With higher concentration than its predecessors, that fragrance steeps in the emblematic freshness of Sauvage, and captures an intoxicating heart of spices. Blending in are rich woods and lavender essence, making for a scent that’s simply hard to forget.
The 100ml bottle of the Dior Sauvage EDT retails for P8000, the EDP for P9500, the Parfum for P10,800, and the Elixir for P15,100. It’s available in all Dior Beauty boutiques and counters in the country.
